Seizure and Rose 1991-92

Seizure is a self-portrait comprised of three images. For this work a 4x5" large format film camera was set up over a bath tub with the model posing under water holding his breath for approximately two minutes. After developing the film I first thought that the exposures where complete duds. Only after making contact prints and showing the images to a friend I began to read the photographs and discern the model's body parts. Seizure is evocative of experiences I had many years ago. These images led to the development of the Bath Tub series. In Rose the subject is also submerged under water. The images reference the human body and it's parts. All photographs are editions of 5 prints (gelatin silver and digital prints).
